Compostable Straw Wins a Bioplastic Award
Co-developed by Danimer Scientific and WinCup, the Phade straws and stirrers have recently won the bioplastic award for their revolutionary design.
These are the first-ever commercially sold straws that are compostable. Continue reading to find out all about this revolutionary product.
The Benefits
The straws, along with the brand’s range of biodegradable drink stirrers are made from polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), a group of biodegradable polyesters that are also made up of canola oil.
PHA is produced by numerous microorganisms, particularly during the bacterial breakdown of sugars, which is what makes it such an eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastics.
The Phade straws have the ability to decompose, without leaving any evidence of microplastics behind.
The sustainability of this product doesn’t affect the quality either, making them as convenient to use as a normal plastic straw.
The product isn’t temperature-sensitive, so if they’re transported or stored in high temperatures, it won’t impact the structure and usability or the straw.
Whether you choose to dispose of the straws in your back garden, or if they end up in the sea, the straws and stirrers decompose in any environment.
Where can you Purchase them from?
You can order the straws and stirrers in bulk on the Phade website and even request a free sample if you’re in the hospitality industry and you’re looking to become more sustainable as a business.
The straws are even available in different sizes, both giant and jumbo.
